When I was a child, I use to imagine how death is and what a corpse looks like.
I usually think deep into the fact about death.
My uncle, Mr Okwor of a blessed memory kicked the bucket in the year 2013 but I still didn't understand 'death'.
I could remember when my granny, cousins and other family members were crying on hearing the sound of the ambulance on the day of his burial.
But I still didn't understand death.
As I was growing up, there where several instances of death that made me had a little understanding of death.
As I increased in size and age, I heard many stories pertaining to death.
How people's spirit do move around from one place to another, how the dead in the mortuary do go and buy things from people, how people who died untimely death do disturb in the mortuary and so many mysterious stories.
One of them had it that, his relation from their extended family died and was buried. After 10 years of his departure, someone told the family that their brother lives at Lagos and that she normally sees him. The family thought that the lady was not mentally well not until the lady persuaded them to come with her.
On that fateful afternoon, they travelled to Lagos.
When they got there the lady took them to the spot where the man normally sells food. Immediately the man saw them, he disappeared.
Can you imagine?
What a mysterious and unbelievable story!
All my questions on death was cleared in the year 2023, when my grandmother died.
She took ill on the 26th of June, being a Monday.
The sickness became worse daily until she was unconscious.
The sickness seemed incurable to the doctors and nurses.
On Saturday night being the first of July, my grandmother died.
The shock still lives with me today.
On seeing her breathing her last I was emotionally sad.
After that day, I understood what death was like.
